Our identity is in Christ

When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we gain a new identity. The Bible tells us in John 1:12 & 1 John 3:1-2, that  we become children of God.

Ephesians 1:5 & Psalm 82:6, says we become sons and daughters of the Most High God! 2 Corinthians 5:17 further tells us that if anyone is in Christ, he/she is a new creation; the old has gone and the new has come.

This identity we have in Christ is huge! It is a topic that deserves searching out, because when we grasp the enormity of how our God identity changes everything, our lives are transformed. God is amazing and he wants to have an intimate relationship with each one of us.

The devil, on the other hand, is a jerk and the father of lies. He comes for one purpose: to rob, to kill and to destroy (John 10:20). If the devil can rob us of our identity, we can’t be effective for God’s kingdom.

When trouble, sickness, loss and discouragement come around our lives, we can lose sight of who we are in Christ and begin to focus on our circumstances. We can run from pastor to pastor, from conference to conference, person to person to get a breakthrough.

1 Peter 5:8 & Revelation 12:12 warns us that the devil goes around seeking whom he can devour, therefore we need to keep our eyes on the one who promised to give us ‘abundant life’ in him (John 10:10), to be our strength and hope, our healer, provider and our redeemer (2 Corinthians 12:8-10; Philipians 4:19).

Don’t let the hard times you face push you away from God, rather press into God in spite of the storms that come. In hard time, wE need to turn our eyes and our hearts to our God. When we get serious with God, he gets serious with us. He is a good father and wants to give us what we need (Luke 11:9-13; Ephesians 3:20-21).
